Do I need a referral from my physican? NO

No. Colorado allows for direct access to a licensed physical therapist without physician referral.

Direct access has proven to be highly beneficial in several important ways: it has reduced time before treatment, decreased the financial burden on the patient, and improved health care utilization.

During your initial exam, a comprehensive systems review and medical screening will be completed. This examination will ensure an appropriate referral to another health care professional for any presentation that is outside the scope of physical therapy practice.

Should I get an MRI or X-ray first? NO
